We have taken many cycling trips to Europe with many different companies, which have all included great food, wine, scenery and good accommodations. Our favorite by far is our recent Lake Como/Maratona dles Dolomite's/Switzerland trip with Lake Como Cycling. Lake Como Cycling is a more intimate company guided and owned by Pietro Zendali. Pietro is what makes Lake Como Cycling special. He takes care of you as if you are his very special friend. During our trip with Pietro, we had issues with our bikes and he took time out of his day to insure we got to a bike shop and got the bikes repaired. We had several people with different “To See” items on their “personal” itineraries and sometimes we rode at a different pace, none of this was a problem for Pietro. He takes care of everything and everyone in a very special way, always with a sincere smile. He really wants you to have a good time. We saw things we had never imagined, rode to places we had never heard of and ate in spectacular little restaurants we would never have found by ourselves. We had never met Pietro before our trip but feel as if we have known him forever and feel he will be a friend for a very long time. We were the “rookies” on a Lake Como Cycling trip as 95% of the other guests were return customers and planning their next trip with Pietro. We will definitely take another trip with Pietro and recommend him to anyone that we like. In fact we are already planning our next trip and it will be with Pietro. It has been a fantastic tour and extra special mention must go to our leader Pietro and his very able assistant RJ. Both are an absolute pleasure to be with, also very calm people, almost impossible to ruffle. The only time Pietro got stressed was when he thought we had headed of on our own down the busy freeway to Genoa, which would have been a big problem, but luckily we stopped at the top of the hill. Apparently he broke the sound barrier chasing after us, I didn't see it but I'd believe it. Pietro designed and ran a wonderful tour for us, even better than last years, and I'm sure we'd all highly recommend him to anyone contemplating a similar tour in future. I know we'll be getting in touch with him for our next expedition, whenever that is.

I was at Lake Como in March 2010 during a business trip to attend a conference in Cernobbio. To have a little work-out besides the heavy conference food and to see something from the landscape I decided to rent a bicycle. I'm from Germany and I'm used to a lot of uneasy red tape. Therefore, I was impressed how easy and uncomplicated it was to get a bike from Lake-Como-Cycling. Pietro delivered the bike directly to my hotel the evening before my arrival and I could start riding immediately in the morning. The bike was great and fit perfectly to my size; it was a top class road bike from Cinelli. The first day I took the road along the coast to Bellagio and the second day I went to Menaggio. Both rides were very, very nice. I especially liked to drive through the narrow streets in the little villages along the route and having beautiful views across the lake all the time. The second day, when I arrived at Menaggio, it was just in time for sun rising. Lake Como is without a doubt a perfect place for cycling. I will definetely come back here not for work but for vacation and then I will try out riding up the mountains ... Thanks Pietro for realizing that great experience. Greetings from Germany, Lutz

“ Cycling in Lake Como area ” We just came back from Lake Como/Bellagio. Had a great trip, stayed at Hotel Centrale, really nice, and not too pricey. We had an amazing bike trip with Pietro, from lakecomocycling.com He was knowledgeable about the region, and our needs for a moderate, but 35 mile ride! He had great bikes, and I am short, 4'10" and he provided me with the best bike. We had lunch in a charming village in Italy and bike around Lake Lagano in Switzerland. Pietro, thanks again for a fantastic time riding around Lugano & Como. That you were able to accommodate my request for 2 rides in the region on the days I had available was fantastic. You then provided wonderful insight whilst riding the region, both in terms of where to ride and also where to stop for coffee! The riding was fantastic, the scenery gorgeous, the coffee superb, the weather wonderful and you were both professional and personable. Riding parts of the Mendrisio worlds course, climbing Madonna del Ghisallo, and the 20km descent from Sormano were all highlights. Thanks also for finding a café in Bellagio where I could watch the AFL Grand Final live & see the Geelong Cats win the premiership! We have just returned from an extraordinary bicycling trip to Lake Como. Everything from logistics, airport transfers, accommodation and dining, to the most important bike related items like bikes and daily rides was done through Pietro at Lake Como Cycling. All of this was done efficiently and expertly which allowed us to sit back and concentrate on the stunning rides. Drawing on Pietro's expert local knowledge, we enjoyed stunning scenery and varied terrain. While we are experienced riders, less experienced clients of Pietro's we met said he was able to design individual rides for their ability. Pietro is an extremely nice guy and a pleasure to spend time with. We expected a lot prior to this trip, what we received greatly exceeded even these high expectations. We cannot recommend, Lake Como as a place to ride or Pietro at Lake Como Cycling more highly. We also cannot wait to go back.

Pietro, Thanks for taking care of us with the bikes, and joining us for the drinks and the dinner, that was great. Crotto Val Durino in Moltrasio was a blast. By the time we got there the lights were off and the family was eating dinner around one table. Nonetheless the opened up and gave us a nice table outside overlooking the town and the lake. They had no menu and spoke no English. We finally said "Surprise us" -- which somehow they understood. We had a great meal, something of everything, including the best fish we had in Italy. The wine was a simple but good table wine. We shared a dessert among us that was quite tasty. And all for a total of 61 Euro for the three of us! I would highly recommend it to the flexible/adventuresome types who you host. And do plan to stay with Kelly and me if you ever get to Jackson Hole. Dan.

Hi Pietro, I'm writing to say thanks for the incredible experience cycling around the lake Como region. Having cycled in many parts of the world, to date lake Como has been best experience ever on a bike. The combination of having the possibility to ride a relatively flat route around the lake along with the breathtaking climbs that one can experience once they leave the lakeside has made this a memorable experience for both my mind and my legs - A good thing the bike I hired had a compact!!! Although I am his son and temporary driver, I was amazed at the care and attention that Pietro gave to each client and each ride. At first, each rider cycles at his own tempo, going forth on the strengths that he or she arrived with, but as time goes on under Pietro's supervision, those same bikers feel the ability to explore themselves, to find new goals, and to push on "a la Lance". Each day on the Como to Rome tour was organized spectacularly, with trails and roads curving through some of Italy's most beautiful terrain. Even though every single day was a beautiful surprise, the finish in Rome, at 7 am along the street to the Vatican was extremely impressive. Thanks so much for delivering and picking up the bike. That really made it so much easier for me since we had not rented a car. I've been visiting lake Como for over 30 years but nothing beat exploring the area by bike. Pietro is a great guide and a considerate cycling companion who took me to wonderful places I would have never seen on foot or by car. The rides were a good mixture of flat and hilly sections that made for a great workout and ensured I really appreciated my evening beers and meal!

Our time riding bikes in Italy will rank at the top of my all-time best vacations. Pietro is without a doubt the nicest guide one could ever hope for. He knows the roads just as you would expect, it was so great being a cycling fan to hear him say this is the hill they do in the Tour of Lombardy or we are about to go down a hill that the World Championship race will be going up. It was colder than expected during our rides. The first day Pietro gave me the vest off of his back. The next day he brought me gloves a rain jacket and some dry clothes to change into. It seemed clear to me that Pietro's goal is to turn clients into friends. On our quick trip to Italy our two days in Como are what I was most looking forward to, I had high expectations and I was worried that I would be disappointed. My expectations were surpassed ten fold.

For mountainbikers and road cycling there are just so many tremendous opportunities ....long ridges with panoramic views... swooping road descents or technical singletracks....Spectacular.

Apart from being a brilliant triathlete and cyclist, and apart from knowing the many good places to go on a bike round Como, Pietro is a very nice person who is focused on ensuring your time there is a success. Plus he is great company. Go to Como and try it!"

"I really believe that Lake Como is the perfect location for the cycling entusiasts. The place is unforgettable: great mountain climbs, breathtaking views, crispy air on top of the passes and ideal weather conditions during the whole week of my stay. Pietro and Nicole were very efficient organizing everything: from airport pick-up at Malpensa, to chosing fantastic rides scenic-wise, from taking good care of all my needs, to the final boat ride to Isola Comacina for the "last supper".... I will recommend for sure Lake Como to all my friends back home and I hope to be back soon either to ride again Madonna del Ghisallo, to again climb Schignano, the Sighignola hill or for the Lake Como to Rome bike trip! "Thanks for the experience Pietro! Lake Como is a great base for a cycling holiday; there's a whole range of great rides from relatively flat ones around the Lake itself to big climbs up the mountains in the middle of it and surrounding it. I think my favourite was the steady climb up to San Fedele d'Intelvi and the drop down the tiny mountain pass into Lugano in Switzerland... you don't get many descents like that! The cycling here is better by a long way than anything I've experienced and your guidance as to where to go was a big part of that. So thanks!"
